Installing NetWare Drivers

3-9

To install the NetWare server driver while running
NetWare 3.12 or 4.x, follow these steps:

1 Determine the NIC’s port address, as described

in “Finding the NIC’s Port Address” earlier in this
chapter.

2 Before starting the server, copy the contents of the

appropriate directory on

TokenDisk

 diskette #1 to

the boot partition of the server’s hard disk:

For NetWare 3.12, use the \NETWARE\SERVER\3.12
directory.

For NetWare 4.x, use the \NETWARE\SERVER\4.X
directory.

3 Start the server and enter the following command

at the server prompt:

load C:3C3X9.LAN PORT=XXXX

where XXXX is the NIC’s port address.

4 Bind the appropriate transport protocol to the

NIC name.

Add the

load

 and

bind

 commands to the AUTOEXEC.NCF

file for automatic execution when you start or restart
the server.

This concludes the procedure for installing the NetWare
server driver for one NIC in a server with NetWare 3.12
and 4.x.

Multiple NICs in a Server

If you are running NetWare and have installed multiple
NICs in a computer that is functioning as a server, follow
the instructions in this section to install the driver.

Before installing the driver, see “About Installing on a
NetWare Server” earlier in this chapter for important
information about NetWare Loadable Modules.
