CAUTION:
Connect the cable only to the 3C339 NIC you
just installed. Connecting the cable to other NICs could
seriously damage the NIC and the token ring network. Do
not daisy-chain token ring NICs or connect them back
to back.
Connecting to STP Cable
1 Locate the NIC’s DB-9 port on the backplate, as
shown in Figure 2-3.

2 Connect the cable’s DB-9 connector to the NIC’s DB-9
port, and secure the connector by tightening the
two screws.
3 Connect the other end of the cable to a dual access
unit (DAU), a multistation access unit (MAU), a
controlled access unit (CAU), or a token ring switch.
