Using the MATRx plus System
The MATRx plus System is used to complete two types of sleep studies:
Baseline Study
The purpose of this study is to:
Aid in the diagnosis of OSA in a patient who has not been previously diagnosed
Confirm the baseline data in a previously diagnosed OSA patient
Support therapeutic follow-up for an OSA patient
•
•
•
OA Study
The purpose of this study is to:
Identify OSA patients who will be responders to OAT
Determine each responder’s effective therapeutic protrusive position
•
•
Note
When an OA Study is ordered, the patient must have their MATRx Titration Trays prepared in advance of
their study night. The range of motion measurements will need to be entered into the Portal and their
Titration Trays will be needed for training.
The use of the device does not replace the need for follow-up testing to determine the initial and
ongoing effectiveness of the therapy as recommended by clinical practice guidelines.
The device selects patients as suitable for oral appliance therapy and recommends a target mandibular
position based on a success criterion of an oxygen desaturation index (ODI) of less than 10 events per
hour with a 4% desaturation criterion.
