THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR (TPS) IN-
SPECTION AND ADJUSTMENT

Before adjusting the TPS, the idling speed
should be properly adjusted.

1. Inspect:

TPS resistance

Inspect steps:

Disconnect the TPS coupler.

Remove the TPS from the carburetor.

Connect the pocket tester (

Ω

TPS connector.

Tester (+) lead

Black terminal

Tester (–) lead

Blue terminal

Check the TPS resistance.

TPS resistance “R

Out of specification

Replace the TPS.

Connect the pocket tester (

TPS connector.

While slowly turning the throttle check the
TPS resistance.
