SYSTEM CONTROL TASKS

When the LPS is in offline mode

To power off the LPS if you are running offline:

1. Press the <JOBS STATUS> key or check the status display

on the PC UI desktop, to ensure the system is idle.

2. Unload the tape or cartridge. (Refer to chapter 7, “Offline

printing tasks,” for instructions on unloading tapes and
cartridges.)

CAUTION: If a tape or cartridge is loaded when the LPS is
powered off, data on the tape or cartridge may be destroyed.

3. Press the System Power Off button on the operator control

panel. (Refer to figure 4-4.)

Boot the LPS

Use this task to select a boot source and start low-level system
testing.

•

If your LPS has the autoboot option, the system controller
automatically begins booting the printer operating system
when the LPS is first powered on.

•

If your LPS does not have the autoboot option, the Boot
menu is displayed automatically on the PC UI after the LPS is
powered on. For the system controller terminal option (non-
U.S. markets only), you boot the LPS through commands
entered at the keyboard.

Boot the LPS task through PC UI

1. Figure 4-5 shows the Boot Menu window. The menu

displays the boot options.

the operator control panel to display the Boot menu.
