MICR OPERATING PROCEDURES

MICR mode echo

The MICR mode echo is an icon on the desktop header. It
indicates the state of the printer’s MICR mode status.

Should MICR be turned off or on?

MICR is the normal operating mode for MICR systems. MICR
mode should be turned off only when necessary to process jobs
that require the following settings, which are not supported in
MICR mode:

•

DARKNESS setting of other than 5

•

EDGE setting of other than OFF

An attempt to change the DARKNESS or the EDGE settings when
MICR mode is on will result with an error message.

At the end-of-job, the MICR mode setting will return to the
sysgened default.

Points regarding MICR mode and the system UI

1. A question mark (?) displays whenever MICR mode is turned

off.

2. You may turn MICR mode on or off only when the printer is

idle, and may not switch modes when the printer is online.
This feature prevents signal strength errors.

3. When MICR mode is turned on, the Print Darkness and

Leading Edge Lightening windows are unavailable.

MICR mode following a sysgen

You can specify the system default MICR mode as follows:

ON

where the system will come up with MICR mode
following a sysgen, and revert back to MICR mode after
the completion of a job for which MICR mode has been
disabled.

OFF

where the system will come up with the non-MICR mode
settings following a sysgen, and will revert back to the
pre-MICR mode settings upon completion of a MICR
mode job.

NONE where the system will come up with the non-MICR mode

settings following a sysgen, and will stay at any keyed-in
setting until a new setting is entered.
