Performing a Deuterium lamp emission line scan
Set up the following parameters to perform a scan of D2 emission
line at 656.1nm to verify that the detector’s D2 lamp, signal
processing and optics are in working order.
Start wavelength = 640
Stop wavelength = 670
Wave increment = 1
Mode = T
Averaging = 1
Gain = 10
Click “Start Wavescan” and the detector will produce the
following trace.
Vis lamp emission over range
There are circumstances where a newly installed Vis lamp can
cause the detector to over range at around 730nm. This can occur
with high throughput detectors using a brighter than normal Vis
lamp.
If you experience this over range after a new Vis lamp has been
fitted, then it is suggested to move the lamp from its current
position by moving it either sideways, or in & out of its mount.
This problem will only be highlighted when scanning in single
beam mode and can easily be identified by performing the
following;
Open the Verify program and select the Wavelength Accuracy
test.
Enter in the scan range 200 – 900nm and press Start.
A spectrum will then be displayed over this range and any over
range at 730nm will be obvious.
