All of the accessory (synchronisation and relay) outputs shall be
toggled with a two second test period. These include relays 1-4,
the peak-sense relay, as well as the Fault Out, Ready Out and
Start Out signals. A ‘40’ will be displayed on the seven-segment
LED’s
Diagnostics switch position 5:
* Not used at present
Diagnostics switch position 6:
* Monochromator motor test
Initialise stepper motor and set monochromators to somewhere
near their theoretical zero-order position. Then continuously
cycle at full speed in 20 degree (5600 microstep) movements back
and forth of this position, with a 1 second interval between
directional changes. Display ‘66’on the seven-segment LED’s
while the motor is resetting, then ‘60’ while it is being cycled.
Diagnostics switch position 7:
* Deuterium lamp test
Enable the lamp filament and display '76' on the seven-segment
LED’s up to and including the warm- up period. Then switch on
the lamp and display '70' while it is operating.
Diagnostics switch position 8:
* QI (VIS) lamp test
If fitted (i.e. #VIS_FITTED detected), the visible lamp will be
enabled. If not fitted, the test shall do nothing. Display a ‘86’ on
the seven-segment LED’s prior to lamp being enabled, then ‘80’
while it is running.
Diagnostics switch position 9:
* Not used at present
Diagnostics switch position 10:
*EEPROM parameter erase
The instrument will completely erase the EEPROM used to store
calibration constants, serial numbers, and other such
parameters. Note that this switch position will NOT erase any
programs stored in the flash memory. A ‘06’ is displayed on the
seven-segment LED’s while erasure is taking place. A ‘00’ will be
displayed if the erasure was successful, or a ‘02’ if some error
occurred.
Note that this EEPROM test would be done immediately after a
reset.
