INSPECTING THE TRIMMER
Regular inspection and maintenance are important to keep the machine at optimal
performance.
WEEKLY TRIMMER INSPECTION PROCEDURE
1. Turn off power and lock out the machine.
2. Inspect the brush:
a) Inspect bristles for any damage or flat spots.
b) Ensure brush protrudes at least 1/8” through the tumbler slots.
c) Ensure brush rotates when the tumbler is rotating.
d) Ensure bearings are rolling smoothly.
3. Inspect the tumbler:
a) Check for any gouges, obvious scrapes, or visible damage.
b) Turn on the tumbler while the room is quiet, and listen for any
contact with the blades. A “TING” SOUND MEANS THE
TUMBLER IS CONTACTING THE BLADES. If you hear a “ting”
sound:
i. Try to locate the contact point and bend the tumbler clear of
the interference.
ii. If required, adjust the lower rollers up to eliminate any
contact (see Adjusting the Rollers on page 50). ROTATE
BY HAND TO ENSURE THE ROLLERS ARE
OPERATING NORMALLY, WITH THE TOP ROLLERS
ONLY TOUCHING ON THE TUMBLER HIGH SPOTS.
RAISING THE TUMBLER WILL REDUCE THROUGHPUT AND QUALITY. AFTER A
COUPLE OF ROLLER ADJUSTMENTS, A NEW TUMBLER MAY BE REQUIRED
(FOR INSTRUCTIONS, SEE ADJUSTING THE ROLLERS ON PAGE 50).
4. Inspect the tumbler belt:
a) Inspect belt for any fraying, kinks, or other damage.
b) Check belt tension. If using a belt tension gauge, the gauge should
read 8-12lbs.
c) Inspect all pulleys, ensuring bearings spin smooth and bolts are
tight.
5. Remove tumbler and disconnect blade couplings (see Disassembling the
T-ZERO on page 27).
