Covers over the electronics and moving parts must always
remain in place during normal operation. Remove only for
maintenance with the machine’s power OFF. Replace all
covers before resuming operation.
•
During maintenance, a safety tag (not supplied by
Thermo
Fisher Scientific
) is to be displayed over the ON/OFF switch
area instructing others not to operate the unit (ANSI:B157.1)
If the system has an air conditioner that replaced the Vortex cooler,
follow the AC manufactures’ recommendation for cleaning the air filter
on the AC. Refer to the instruction manual that came with the AC.
The
EZx
has been designed to be as maintenance-free as possible. Wear
items such as the conveyor belt or rollers need to be replaced regularly.
Interlocks and E-stops need to be replaced if they are damaged or
broken.
Preventative daily maintenance by of the operator ensures the
EZx
continues to run normally. Some of the weekly and monthly tasks
require maintenance staff and training. Quarterly and yearly service
should be provided by a
Thermo Fisher Scientific
representative.
The following daily tasks are recommended prior to starting up the
production line each day.

Clean the system if necessary
•
Perform a routine
Critical Radiation Survey
of the system as
required by government, state, and local authorities. Record the
results in a log file for the system (see Appendix A).
Note. Radiation Surveys should be performed in accordance with
your government, state, and local authorities, which may not be
daily.

Check the condition of the shielding curtains at the entry and exit of
the hood.

Check the belt tension
