6.7 Installation and SSPA Configuration
6.7.1 Installation
All three SSPA units are designed to be installed in a standard EIA rack.
Warning! Ensure the equipment rack is properly supported to pre-
vent tipping forward when the SSPAs are extended on their slides.
HPA1 should be located on the top of the rack, HPA2 should be located directly below
HPA1 and HPA3 should be located below HPA2. The waveguide assembly (or semi-
rigid coax cables) and mounting brackets connect the three units.
All three HPAs need to be configured for 1:2 mode. Each unit’s status software setting
has to be set to “HPA1”, “HPA2”, “HPA3” according to their physical position in the
rack. See below for step by step instructions.
6.7.1.1 Configuring HPA1 to Work in 1:2 Redundant Mode
1. From front panel of HPA1, press the

4. Select desired HPA switching method and press the

Note
: Each HPA must utilize the same switching method.
6.7.1.3 Setting HPA1 Unit Status

Note
: SSPA2 unit status must be set to “HPA2” and SSPA3 unit status
must be set to “HPA3”.
Repeat the steps above for HPA2 and HPA3.
