CHAPTER 10: ANCILLARY FUNCTIONS
1. PHOTOCOPYING
Your fax machine can be used to produce one or more copies of a single or multiple page document placed
in its feeder.
Place the document face down in your fax machine’s feeder, with the first page at the bottom of the
stack.
For local copying of photographs, adjust the resolution setting if required by pressing the RESOLU-
TION key. If you do not select PHOTO mode, the copies will come out in FINE mode.
Adjust the contrast (bright or dark) of the document if required by pressing the CONTRAST key.
Press FAX/COPY. Key in the number of copies required (1 to 99) and press FAX/COPY.
Note:
If you only require a single copy of your document, you need not enter the number of copies required
and press the FAX/COPY key a second time: after waiting for a while, your fax machine will
automatically launch the copying process.
2. SEND AND RECEIVE LOGS
All fax send and receive sessions are logged in send and receive logs which can be printed out at any moment
in time.
They are printed automatically after every 30 sessions (send and receive).
To print the logs, press MENU followed by 5 and 2. The columns display the following data:

The date and time when the document was sent or received.

The subscriber’s fax number or e-mail address.

The transmission mode (STANDARD, FINE, SUPER FINE or PHOTO).

The number of pages sent or received.

The duration of the session.

“Correct” if the send or receive session was successful.
or
a reference code in the case of a specific session (polling, manual send, etc.).

The reason in the event that the session fails (e.g. “No answer”).
3. GUIDE
You can at any time print the a guide showing all your fax machine’s functions.
Press the GUIDE (i) key.

Press MENU followed by 5 and 1.
4. PREVENTING UNAUTHORISED USE: LOCK (selected models
only)
There are various ways of securing your fax machine against unauthorised use:

You can lock the printing of incoming documents:
faxes will be received to memory, thus ensuring secure reception of incoming faxes in your absence.
This function forms part of the fax answer mode (see SETTINGS - FAX ANSWER).

You can lock the keypad:
this prevents any authorised person from using your fax machine. Anyone attempting to use the fax
will be prompted to enter an access code. The machine will lock again following each operation.

Dialling bar:
The fax machine will only send faxes to numbers in the directory, thus enabling you to control
outgoing traffic.
The operator access parameters are confidential and protected by a 4-digit access code which authorised
operators should be provided with.
KEYING IN THE LOCK CODE
Press MENU, 8, 2 and 1. Key in a 4-digit lock code.
Press OK.
Confirm the lock code by keying it in again and press OK.
Note:
if there already is a code, the fax machine will prompt you to key in the existing code before allowing
you to modify it.
LOCKING THE KEYPAD
Press MENU followed by 8, 2 and 2. Enter the code and press OK.
Select ON using the and keys and press FAX/COPY. Your fax machine is now locked.
