CHAPTER 9: ADVANCED COMMUNICATION FUNCTIONS
NUMBER OF PAGES CHECK
The number of pages scanned is compared to the value provided by the user.
SCHEDULED TRANSMISSION
Enables you to specify a time when the document should be sent.
FAX ON DEMAND
A document is loaded into your fax machine and made available to one or more subscribers who can receive a
fax of this document by calling your fax machine using the POLLING function. The document is then sent out
to the requesting fax.
You can either load the document in the scanner feeder or in memory. The latter option is preferable, for it leaves
your machine free and means the document can be accessed by several consecutive callers.
POLLING
This is where you request a fax of a document from a remote fax machine. Simply call that machine and it will
send the document to your fax machine automatically.
QUEUE
This is a list of all the documents awaiting transmission (scheduled transmission, fax on demand, polling calls).

2. DIALLING PREFIX
Your fax machine can add a prefix to all the numbers comprising at least a minimum number of digits which you
dial. This function is useful when your fax machine is set up on a corporate private exchange:
-
internal numbers, for which the prefix is not required, are short.
-
external numbers, for which a prefix is mandatory, are long (10 digits in France).
For example, if your fax machine is set up on a corporate private exchange where:
-
the prefix required to connect to the public switched telephone network is “0/” (0 followed by a pause),
-
internal numbers have 5 digits,
You can program your fax machine to automatically add the prefix “0/” to all numbers dialled which comprise
6 or more digits.
Note:
Prefixes are also added to numbers in the directory.
If you program the unit to automatically add a prefix to dialled numbers, ensure you do not incorporate such
a prefix independently in front of the numbers you enter in the directory.
To specify a prefix:
Press MENU followed by 8 and 3.
Press 2 to access the PREFIX SETTING menu, and key in the dialling prefix.
Note:
The dialling prefix can include up to 5 characters.
