11. MANUAL SEND
You can listen in to line activity through your fax machine’s loudspeaker while the unit dials a number to send
a fax (except for Internet transmissions).
This function is useful, for example, in the following circumstances:
-
after several failed attempts to send a document. By listening in to the line you can hear whether the
subscriber’s fax machine is busy and activate transmission as soon as it becomes free.
-
you want to monitor the transmission being unsure of the accuracy of the number, etc.
Place the document to be sent out in your fax machine’s feeder.
Press the LINE key.
Adjust the volume if required using the and keys of the navigator pad.
Dial the subscriber’s fax number.
Note:
- Press the RE-DIAL key to access the last number dialled.
- By pressing the RE-DIAL key before the LINE key you can access the last 10 numbers dialled.
As soon as you hear the fax tone of the remote fax machine, this means it is available.
Press FAX/COPY. Your fax will proceed to send the document.
Note:
The transmission report (if that option is on) will not show a copy of the first page of your fax; instead, a
line will be printed indicating that the transmission was manual.
12. VOICE CALL DURING TRANSMISSION
If a telephone handset is connected to your fax machine, you can have a conversation with the subscriber to whom
you are in the process of sending a fax.
WARNING: this function is only available for documents sent directly from the feeder (as opposed to those that
are loaded into memory first).
Please the document to be sent out in your fax machine’s feeder.
Dial the subscriber’s fax number and press OK.
Select the FEEDER transmission mode.
Press FAX/COPY.
During document transmission, press LINE to indicate that you wish to initiate a telephone conversation.
Your fax will sound an initial series of beeps to indicate that your request has been forwarded to the
subscriber’s fax machine; a second series of beeps indicates that the latter has accepted your request.
Pick up the telephone handset and press the LINE key on your fax machine. You will be able to speak to
the subscriber as soon as the page currently being sent has gone through.
Once your conversation is over, press FAX/COPY and hang up to resume transmission of your fax.
