8.2.1.4 Information on pressure differ-
ential (input byte 0, bit 6)
A pressure sensors monitors the air pres-
sure in the aerosol generator on the MQL
system.
The difference between the inlet air pres-
sure and the pressure in the aerosol
generator is referred to as the pressure dif-
ferential. No or an inadequate pressure dif-
ferential may indicate faults in the system,
such as a kinked aerosol line behind the
output of the MQL system.
Information on whether there is sufficiently
high pressure differential is obtained by
querying byte 0, bit 6.
8.2.1.5 Information on system status
(input byte 0, bit 7)
Bit 7 in input byte 0 provides information on
the functional state of the system.
If there is a defect in an electrical compo-
nent or a cable breakage, the MQL system
reports a system error via this bit.
8.2.1.6 Information on the reill device
(input byte 1, bit 0)
Bit 0 in input byte 1 is relevant for MQL sys-
tems with an integrated refill pump:
In operating modes 2 and 3 (Chapter
7.1.1.2), when automatic refilling is activat-
ed, the pump will normally always be shut
off once the level “reservoir full” is reached.
The time required for refilling is monitored
by the control unit and must not exceed a
set value. If the time is exceeded (timeout),
the pump is switched off.
Causes of a “timeout” may be, for instance,
a defective suction line or lack of lubricant
in the refilling reservoir. The timeout is
recorded by changing bit 0 in input byte 1
from <<1> to <<0>>.
The pump can only start again once this bit
has been reset, i.e., set to <<1>>. This can
be done in three ways:
○
DIP switches 2 and 3 on the control unit
are briefly set to “ON”
○
Briefly disconnect the control unit from
the power supply
