3. Overview, functional description
3.4.5 Fill level indicator and monitoring
See item 4
The lubricant level in the reservoir is contin-
uously monitored by the control unit using a
fill level sensor.
On the UFD10 system, the fill level can also
be read directly from an optical fill level
indicator (item 4) on the front of the control
cabinet.
On type UFD20, the visual fill level indicators
are located on the left and right sides of the
control cabinet.
3.4.6 Main air valve
(compressed air connection)
See item 7
The main air valve is located immediately
behind the compressed air inlet and sepa-
rates all downstream system components
from the compressed air supply. No aerosol
is produced when the main air valve is
closed.
The main air valve is not suitable for con-
trol of aerosol generation in the machining
process. It is to be used solely for switching
compressed air on and off at the beginning
and end of system usage.
Aerosol generation in the machining process
can be interrupted by selecting lubrication
program number <<0>>.
3.4.4 Flow sensor
To monitor the lubricant flow during aero-
sol generation, an electronic flow sensor is
installed in the lubricant supply line to the
aerosol generator. The signal from the flow
sensor can be analyzed by the machine
tool’s control unit using a bit in the process
image.
3.4.3 Communication interface
See item 13
The DigitalSuper minimal quantity lubrica-
tion system is controlled via a communica-
tion interface to the machine tool. The inter-
face is designed for PROFIBUS or PROFINET
as a fieldbus connection
(other fieldbus types available on request).
Chapter 3.5.1 describes the PROFIBUS
communication interface, and Chapter 3.5.2
describes the PROFINET communication
interface.
