3. Overview, functional description

MQL systems in designs UFD10-1-2XX000
can be operated on a PROFINET I/O controller
via a gateway.
The gateway is installed either in a sepa-
rate switchbox or in the bypass control
switchbox.
The gateway behaves as a normal IO device
on the PROFINET. The process data from
the DP slave (MQL system with fieldbus
plug) is mapped 1:1 by the PROFINET I/O
device. All statements in this manual on
communication via PROFIBUS therefore ap-
ply equally to communication via PROFINET.
For diagnostic purposes, the gateway has
five LEDs, which indicate whether a data
connection exists during commissioning or
in case of errors (see Table 2).
The color displayed by the LEDs in Fig. 4
indicates normal operation.
