9.4 Commissioning
The following are to be performed during
commissioning:
• Check the control cabinet housing and all
connections for tight fit.
• Check the lubricant level in the lubricant
reservoir.
• Check whether compressed air is
supplied.
• Set the operating parameters; see Chap-
ter 7.
• Start the system.
Perform the following functional tests on the
system:
• With spindle at standstill, check whether
communication between the machine and
the MQL system is functioning properly.
• Check the software for proper function.
• Check, initially with spindle at a standstill,
whether the aerosol can flow unimpeded
through the cooling duct system of the
machine tool.
This can be seen best if the tool is re-
moved from the toolholder. The aerosol
must emerge visibly from the cooling
duct system.
• Then, clamp the tool into the toolholder
and hold a dry workpiece surface approx.
1-3 mm under the tool at the outlet duct.
If no lubricant film forms on the work-
piece surface, there is a fault in the tool’s
cooling duct system. Please check the
tool and the toolholder.
• Adapt the mixture and quantity of aerosol
for the machining process by varying the
lubrication programs until the machining
results meet requirements.
