Maintenance

Computer maintenance should be performed at certain time intervals. Do not ignore any
scheduled maintenance as this will affect the computer speed and could ultimately lead to a
computer system failure.

Weekly

Check chart updates

C-MAP subscribers will automatically receives updates from NAVICO but it is still
recommended to check for updates weekly.

Clean keyboard and mouse

Wipe keyboard and mouse with disinfectant wipes. Make sure that the wipes are not overly
damp and that you squeeze out any excess liquid before wiping your keyboard or mouse.

Note: 

When using wet cloth, ensure to turn your computer off and unplug the power

cord. Be careful not to allow any excess moisture to enter any openings and never spray
anything directly onto your keyboard or mouse.

Monthly

Secure Backup data

Data loss can happen in many ways so keep a backup copy of your routes, charts and layers
regularly. Always test your copied data, a backup is useless if it cannot be restored correctly.

Clean Computer fans

Depending on the location of your computer, you should vacuum the area around your desk
and inspect the internal and external fans and ventilations to make sure they are free of hair,
dust, and other debris that can cause heat-buildup in your PC.
