● Response monitoring time (ms)
Time (ms) within which the RTU expects a response. If the RTU does not receive a
response during this time, the frame is repeated as often as entered under "Maximum
number of retries". If there is still no response after the maximum number of retries, the
reading of this tag is terminated and a diagnostic message is created in the buffer, if it is
activated. An attempt is made to continue reading other frames.
Range of values: 50...3000
● Maximum number of retries
The value determines how often an attempt is made to repeat a frame that has not
received a positive answer.
The Response monitoring time is restarted with each new transmission attempt.
Range of values: 0...3
Diagnostics alarm
● Communication error on the bus
If the RTU receives no answer or an incorrect answer from the partner within the entered
response monitoring time and after expiry of the specified number of retries, the RTU
enters a diagnostics message of the "ERROR" class into the diagnostics buffer. The
following error identifiers (specified in hexadecimal) are possible:

– 0x02 - COMM_ERROR_MODBUS_UART_PARITY_ERROR
– 0x03 - COMM_ERROR_MODBUS_UART_FRAMING_ERROR
– 0x04 - COMM_ERROR_MODBUS_UART_NOISE_ERROR
– 0x05 - COMM_ERROR_MODBUS_UART_OVERFLOW_ERROR
– 0x06 - COMM_ERROR_MODBUS_CRC_CHECK_FAILED
– 0x07 - COMM_ERROR_MODBUS_ANSWER_TIMEOUT
– 0x08 - COMM_ERROR_MODBUS_WRONG_ADDRESS
– 0x09 - COMM_ERROR_MODBUS_WRONG_FC
