4.6 Establishing the connection between RTU and configuration PC

OpenVPN for HTTP connections from the configuration PC to the RTU via WAN

If you want to establish an HTTP connection to the WBM of the RTU from your configuration

PC via mobile wireless, you need to use OpenVPN. This requires the following:

●

A configured OpenVPN server
–

First set up an OpenVPN server.
"SINEMA Remote Connect - Server", Is recommended, see /5/ (Page 388).

–

Configure the OpenVPN clients you require in the VPN network (configuration PC,

RTUs).

●

Installed OpenVPN client on the configuration PC
–

Install an open VPN client on the configuration PC.
If you use "SINEMA Remote Connect - Server" as the server, you can use the

"SINEMA Remote Connect - Client" application for the PC, see /6/ (Page 388). You

will find a Getting Started for the server and client in /7/ (Page 389).

–

Before establishing the connection to the RTU, you need to connect the OpenVPN

client of the PC to the OpenVPN server.

Activated OpenVPN client on the RTU
–

Configure the OpenVPN client of the RTU, see section VPN (Page 151).

–

Importing certificates into the RTU
When using "SINEMA Remote Connect server" Use the configuration alternative

"SINEMA Remote Connect" on the RTU, the RTU then calls up the VPN certificates

directly from the server.
When using a standard OpenVPN server: The certificates created for the clients on

the OpenVPN server must have been exported there and imported in the WBM of the

RTU from the configuration PC via a LAN connection.

The VPN connection is established from the configuration PC via the VPN server to the

RTU.
