Setting up automatic validation/calibration (option)
5.15.1
Overview of automatic validation/calibration
Automa�c valida�on operates in the same way as automa�c calibra�on, except that the transducer is
not calibrated when the low and high calibra�on gases have been passed through the transducer.
Automa�c valida�on therefore allows you to determine the dri� of sample measurements over �me.
You can set tolerance levels, so that if the sample measurements fall outside acceptable limits, a
‘maintenance required’ status is raised (
) to iden�fy that a full calibra�on needs to be carried out.
If your analyser supports auto valida�on/calibra�on you have the op�on to:
• Configure the analyser so that automa�c valida�on/calibra�on of a transducer is carried
out once (at a
pre-set
�me).
•
Configure the analyser so that automa�c valida�on/calibra�on of a transducer is carried
out repeatedly at a specified frequency.
• Use the so� keys to manually start an automa�c Valida�on/Calibra�on
• Use a control input signal (on the RS485, Ethernet or digital input) to ini�ate an
automa�c valida�on/calibra�on.
Note:
You can also perform a ‘remote calibration’ using the switched inputs on
the
calibration option PCB if they are configured accordingly.
Automa�c valida�on/calibra�on provides the following func�onality:
•
During an automa�c valida�on/calibra�on of a transducer, the analyser controls gas
selec�on relays which can be used to control the flow of low and high calibra�on gases
into the
analyser
.
•
The
analyser checks that the resul�ng measurement is within the
pre-set
validate target
range (validate target value ± validate tolerance value).
• If the measurement is within the
pre-set
validate target range and mode is set to
calibrate, the transducer is calibrated (as in manual calibra�on).
•
You can specify a pre
-warni
ng �me, which will precede the automa�c valida�on/
calibra�on. During this �me, the ‘service in progress’ status output will be set; the
automa�c valida�on/calibra�on will then be carried out at the end of the pre
-
warning
�me. If automa�c valida�on is cancelled during this �me the gas selec�on control will
not have changed state.
•
You
can specify an iner�ng phase. This ensures that non
-
inert hazardous mixtures of
calibra�on gas and sample gas cannot flow into the analyser one immediately a�er
the
