Evaluate whether the position of the leak seems plausible. To do so, answer the
following questions.
Is one of distances almost zero?
NO YES
K both values are significantly greater
than zero.
K one of the two value is zero or nearly
zero.
Meaning: The values seem plausible.
Reaction: Continue correlation and
perform further analysis
Meaning: The leak is either exactly at the
measurement point or it is outside the
correlated pipe section.
Reaction: Cancel measurement to move
the corresponding transmitter to increase
the measurement section. Then perform a
correlation again.
Are both distances the same size?
NO YES
K the two values are significantly
different.
K the two values indicate about half the
total distance.
Meaning: The values seem plausible.
Reaction: Continue correlation and
perform further analysis
Meaning: The leak is either exactly in the
middle of the section or there is a
measurement error (a “middle correlation”)
Reaction: Cancel measurement to move
both transmitters to increase or decrease
the measurement section. Then perform a
correlation again.
Use the various analysis tools to analyse the correlation more precisely and evaluate in
detail
You can end the measurement at any time by closing the correlation window.
Different settings for displaying the correlation trace can be changed in the
software configurations.

Detailed analysis
