3 Technical description
3.1 Set components
The Correlux C-300 system consists mainly of the following components:
•
CorreluxView-3 software
•
COR C-300-RI radio interface
to be connected to the laptop
•
2 Power transmitters with microphone (transmitter A / transmitter B)
for recording the leak noise at two measurement points and sending the noise data
to the computer
The base set can be expanded to include the following components:
•
Up to 8 Multi sensors
for recording the leak noise at up to 8 measurement points simultaneously with
subsequent “offline correlation”
•
Hydrophone
for recording the leak noise directly at the water column
The transport case has space for 2 Power transmitters and 3 Multi sensors. The case
is not just for storage and transport, it also serves as a charger for these devices.
3.2 Function
Correlux C-300 is a correlator system for the leak localisation in drinking water networks.
Pressurised water flowing out at the leak location creates a noise which travels out in all
directions of the pipe. This noise is recorded by at least two sensors installed in the line.
The noise is amplified and sent wirelessly to the computer or buffered in the sensor and
read out later from the sensor by the computer.
The CorreluxView-3 compares the signals of the sensors (correlation) and calculates the
exact distance of the sensors to the leakage on the basis of the delay time of the signals
and the sound velocity in the pipe.
Correlux C-300 is suitable for both immediate measurement (online) as well as time-
shifted measurement (offline).
Online measurement
During an online measurement, the recording of the measurements and the correlation
of the measurement data take place at the same time.
Step Description
1 Installation of Power transmitters “A” and “B” at two measuring points
2 Recording of measured data, simultaneous transmission of data and execution of
the correlation “live” on the computer.
