3.7 Lighting setup
The handlebar of your eBike is set up optimally regarding the light beam.
If your handlebar setup has undergone any changes you should check,
if the setup is still compliant with the StVZO. In 5 meters distance, the
brightest area of the light beam should be at half of the height where it is
mounted on the e-bike. This is achieved by doing the following:
1. Position the e-bike in front of a wall 5 meters away.
2. Mark the area for the recommended height of the brightest part of the
light beam on the wall.
3. Activate the lighting (chapter 3.5.3 on page 60) and position the
e-bike upright.
4. Adjust the brightest area of light beam to the half of the height of
where the front light is mounted. The dimmed upper area of the light
beam should be lower than the mounting height of the front light, to
avoid blinding oncoming traffic (fig. 9 ).
5. To correct the light cone, loosen the handlebar clamp far enough that
you can turn the handlebar up or down without scratching it (fig. 10 ).
6. Then tighten the screws of the stem cap torque wrench again. They
should be tightened evenly with a torque of 5 Nm .
