3.2 Handlebar setup
1.
Make sure that both bolts on the stem (fig. 1 ) are loosened. Turn the
handlebar approx. 90° into its “going-straight” position. The stem and
front tyre should be aligned.
2.
Slightly tighten bolt #1 (5 mm hex key, fig. 1 ) in order to adjust the
bearing play (
~1-2Nm
). To check bearing play, pull the front brake and
rock the e-bike back and forth. If you can see, feel or hear a movement
between frame and fork, tighten bolt #1 a bit more, to minimize play. A
correctly adjusted headset does not rattle but spins freely.
3.
Then fasten bolt #2 (6 mm hex key, fig. 1 ) with a torque of
14-15 Nm
.
4. In delivery condition the handlebar is set up optimally regarding the
light beam but for transport the brake levers have been turned in. To
adjust them, loosen the lower bolt (4mm hex key, fig. 2 ) and turn them
to the recommended position (fig. 3 ).
5. Then tighten the bolt again to
3 Nm
. To further adjust the brake levers
to your own ergonomics, simply repeat this process.
6.
Unless you know your specific setup, we recommend starting in the
recommended position and adjust from there accordingly.
7.
Before your first ride, make sure that the four stem cap bolts (4mm hex
key) are evenly tightened to a torque of
5-6 Nm
.
Attention!
Bolt 1 (fig. 1 ) is an adjustment bolt to adjust
bearing play. It is only tightened to prevent bearing play
and to stay in position. Overtightening the bolt may
damage the headset bearings and negatively influence
the steering.
