5.3 EtherCat and RS-485 Bus Connections
Within a multi-device system of TC.ACS devices the communication is provided by EtherCat and RS-485 bus
connections:
Fig. 12:
EtherCat (green) and RS-485 bus (blue) connections in a TC.ACS multi-device system of 10 devices
To the connections the following applies:
• RS-485 bus:
The connection starts from the master device and runs through all slave devices serially, each from interface
X602
to
X601
or vice versa. Both ends are terminated by the termination resistor RS 485.
• EtherCAT:
The connection runs from the signal output of the Ethercat extension Beckhoff EK1110 through the master
device, and then through all slave devices serially, each from interface
604
(ECAT OUT) to interface
603
(ECAT
IN).
An SD card with a configuration that corresponds to the number of devices must be inserted in the
Ether
-
cat Beckhoff CX8090
.
The EtherCAT connection does not need a termination resistor.
An SD card that corresponds to the relevant configuration can be obtained from Regatron AG.
