User Manual Version 3.1
The statical Teach-in mode (TM/TB) allows the teach of mark and
background at the same time (one after the other but independently of
the order) or separately. There is no need to teach always both mark and
background.
•
Place a paper under the sensor and switch to the Teach-in
mark (TM).
•
Teach-In starts with a continuous value capturing. The object’s
color may change. When the switch position changes, the last
captured value will be saved as the marks value. During TM mode,
the green and the yellow display LED are flashing simultaneously
(f = 2.5 Hz).
•
Remove the paper and activate the Teach-in background (TB)
mode. Measure the contrast color of the background (the belt).
During TB mode, the green and the yellow display LED are flashing
simultaneously (f = 2.5 Hz).
•
Activate the switching mode (S). Control the set contrast values by
placing a paper under the sensor by hand. The LED should
If the teach-in was not successful, the LEDs start flashing alternating
with a frequency of approx. 8.0 Hz. The sensor returns to the switch
mode (normal operation) after 7 seconds without changing the saved
values.
Cause: Maybe the contrast was too bad. Try to teach-in the paper on the
darkest color passing the sensor.

5.2.5
Positioning of the paper sensor (TOF)
The paper sensor detects the edges of each transported print medium. It’s position has to
be adjusted to the used paper format.
Positioning of
the paper
sensor
•
Loosen the knurled screw of the sensor mounting.
•
You can shift the sensor along the guide bar. Position it above your
used media, so that it can detect the whole length of each product.
See Figure 27 for different scenarios. The scanning line of the
paper sensor is indicated as a grey line.
•
A: Don’t position the paper sensor out of the product stream.
•
B: Don’t position the sensor above the holes of the belt.
•
C: Recommended position of the sensor.
•
D: Avoid to position the paper sensor above preprinted dark
colored elements or above low-contrast areas of the paper. If
necessary use the option PAPER SENSOR, on page 101 to adjust
the behavior of the product detection or perform a “Teach-in” of
the sensor as described in chapter 5.2.4, on page 48.
