How to mount the paper sensor (TOF sensor)
The paper sensor detects the front edge and the rear edge of each product (print medium)
respectively each print mark in a web installation. To ensure a proper functionality of the
paper sensor please adhere to the following points.
•
The paper sensor must be mounted before the first print unit. So that the each print
medium reaches the paper sensor before reaching the first print unit. See Figure 10
for an example for the transport direction left to right.
•
It is recommended to mount the mounting bar of the paper sensor to the mounting
profiles of the first print unit (see Figure 11). Mounting the sensor in this position
ensures that the distance between paper sensor and first print unit is equal to the
default distance of 90.1 mm / 3.55".
•
The maximum possible distance between the paper sensor and the first print unit is
200 mm / 7.8”.
•
Mount the encoder so that you can raise or lower its mounting bar when working with
thicker or thinner products. The distance between product and sensor should always
be 11 ± 2 mm / 0.43" ± 0.078".
•
The contrast between surface (e.g. transport belt) and product should be as great as
possible. For example a dark transport belt and a bright product.
•
The surface onto which the sensor is mounted, must be uniform expect for the
product or print marks. There should be no holes, differently coloured sectioned or
seams on the surface (e.g. transport belt or web).
