Understanding the Different Alarm and Event Messages
The table below lists all of the alarm and event messages that are displayed in the
Alarms & Events Log
.
Description
Alarm/Event
(A/E)
Situation Where Alarm/Event Occurs
LAN Link Down
A
There is no connection between the IDU and the Ethernet.
LAN Admin Down
A
The Ethernet port is disabled.
RF Link Down
A
There is no communication between the two ODUs.
RF Link Admin Down
A
The RF link is disabled.
Out of Frame Defect
A
T1 Out of Frame condition.
ODU Link Failure
A
Control and monitoring communication between the IDU
and ODU has failed.
Loss of Signal Failure
A
T1 error, no signal present.
Loss of Frame Failure
A
T1 signal present, but no frame.
Alarm Indication Signal
A
T1 signal present but unframed. This can occur when the
other end has T1 disabled or there are problems with the
upstream device.
ODU Temperature Alarm
A
The ODU temperature has exceeded 75 degrees Celsius
(167 F), which can cause catastrophic equipment failure.
At this temperature, the unit should be shut down.
IDU Temperature Alarm
A
The IDU temperature has exceeded 75 degrees Celsius
(167 F), which can cause catastrophic equipment failure.
At this temperature, the unit should be shut down.
RF Link Down – Manual
E
This event occurs when someone has manually set the
Link
Up/Down
field to be
Down
.
Antenna Aiming Started/Ended
E
This event happens when someone has initiated/terminated
Antenna Aiming mode from either end of the link.
Cold Start
E
The IDU has been reset. Some configuration change has
occurred since the last reset was updated and the unit was
restarted.
Warm Start
E
The IDU has been reset.
RF Link Up
E
The local IDU has established communication with the
remote unit.
System Diagnostic
Started/Ended
E
This event happens when someone initiates/terminates
system diagnostics.
Defaults Restored
E
The user has restored default values from the Utilities
screen.
Authentication Failure
E
An SNMP packet with an unmatchable community string
has been received by the IDU.
