However, the Stratum will also automatically assign its radio port (port rf0 on an SNMP workstation) an IP address
that is exactly 1 subnet higher than the one listed within the Ethernet Configuration screen. This second IP address
is implemented for security purposes and is used in conjunction with CHAP (the Challenge Handshake
Authentication Protocol).
For example, if you assign the Stratum an IP address of 192.168.0.100 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0, it will
automatically assign its RF port an IP address of 192.168.1.100.
Be sure to reserve this second address so that there is no conflict with other devices on the higher subnet. Also, you
may want to filter this second IP address from your SNMP workstation so it will not appear as an entry on the
device map.
VLAN settings:
In addition to standard-sized Ethernet packets, the Stratum can support larger VLAN and Cisco interswitch link
(ISL) packets. If you have a virtual LAN configured on your network, configure the
Tag Bridging
parameter to
Enabled
and configure the Stratum to use your network’s
VLAN ID
.
Spanning Tree State setting:
To enable the spanning tree features of the Stratum, configure the
Spanning Tree State
parameter to
Enabled
.
Once Spanning Tree State is enabled, you can configure the other spanning tree parameters. The table below lists
the spanning tree parameters, their default values, and range of acceptable values.
