Risk of damage to air vents.
e Do not insert any objects (e.g. smartphone cra-
dle, air freshener) into the air vents.
Opening and closing air vents
e Turn the thumb wheel on the air vent.
Changing air flow direction
e Swivel vent vanes in the desired direction.
Enable fresh-air intake

Keep the fresh-air intake between the wind-
shield and the hood free from snow, ice and
leaves.

2. Select the air distribution for the relevant air-
conditioned area:
The air flows toward the windshield and
the side windows.
The air flows from the center air vent
and side vents.
The air flows to the footwell.
Adjusting rear air distribution
e Select the air distribution for the relevant air-
conditioned area:
The air flows to head level.
The air flows from the center vent and
from the air vents in the door pillars.
The air flows into the footwell and from
the air vents in the door pillars.

The ventilation panel on top of the dashboard pro-
vides additional ventilation for the vehicle interior.
The ventilation panel can be activated or deactivated
separately. The air-conditioning system regulates
the air flow automatically.

Setting climate style
Three air flow settings are available in automatic
mode.

2. Select the climate style for the respective air-
conditioning area:
Switching Eco mode on and off
When Eco mode is switched on, the air conditioning
system operates particularly energy efficiently. The
level of comfort in the vehicle may be reduced in
order to improve fuel economy (e.g. the vehicle in-
terior may take longer to heat up or cool down).

Setting the footwell temperature
The footwell temperature can be individually ad-
justed relative to the overall interior temperature for
the front air-conditioned areas.

2. Select the desired footwell temperature for the
relevant air-conditioned area.
Switching the ionizer on and off
b b Vehicles with ionizer.
In regions with poor air quality – e.g. in large cities –
the ionizer can help achieve better air quality in the
vehicle interior.
Ionization itself does not produce any odor.

Switching automatic air-recircu-
lation mode on and off
In automatic air-recirculation mode, the outside air
supply is regulated depending on the air quality. At
outside temperatures below approx. 41 °F (5 °C),
