1.
Position the socket and mount it against the
slight resistance.
The socket engages audibly. This opens the re-
tainer of the central bolt.
Information
If the socket cannot be fitted:
After a very long period of use or heavy strain, the
retaining pin

can jam.

In this case, release retaining pin

by striking
lightly with a rubber mallet and a suitable auxil-
iary tool.

Insert a torque wrench or a long lever (l (ideal
length 4 ft. (1.2 m) – 5 ft. (1.5 m)) with a
1“ square fitting into the socket.

With the help of a
second person
, brake the
wheel firmly with the brake pedal. The rotary
forces cannot be held by the parking brake or
transmission alone.
WARNING
Abrupt release of the
central bolt
A very high torque is necessary to release the central
bolt. The release torque may be significantly higher
than the tightening torque. The bolt may be released
abruptly.
A poorly fitted socket can slip off and cause injuries.

Make sure there is sufficient clearance from
people and vehicle parts for the lever.
e
When loosening the central bolt, make sure that
the socket remains pushed on fully and does not
slide out of position.
NOTICE
Unscrewing the central bolt with an incorrectly
mounted socket can damage the retainer.

Make sure that the direction of rotation is
correct.

Hold the steering wheel tightly when loosening
the front wheels.

Release the central bolt with high degree of force
and then unscrew completely and remove. The
socket must remain pushed on fully until the end
of the procedure.
5.
Set down the central bolt with the outward side
facing upward, protected from water, dust, dirt,
etc.
NOTICE
Risk of damage to brake disks on vehicles with a
Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB).

Do not rest the wheel on the PCCB brake disk
when removing.
e
Use the PCCB assembly aid.
6.
Remove the wheel carefully.
