Temporarily passive
This status is active while pressing the accelerator
pedal when PID is active.
– A message indicating that PID is passive appears
in the instrument cluster.
– The status display is gray.
– There is no control.
– The stored target speed and the selected target
distance are retained.
– Control becomes active again when the acceler-
ator pedal is released.
Switching PID on and off
The system that was selected last is always
switched on. The system is initially in passive mode
when switched on. It must first be activated before
the control function will start working.

A driver assistance system is not yet switched
on.

on the control lever.
The options menu for the driver assistance sys-
tems appears on the instrument cluster.

If PID is not already selected, select
PID
using
the rotary push button on the steering wheel and
press to confirm.

Switching from an already activated driver assis-
tance system to PID

Information
An activated driver assistance system will be acti-
vated again even after switching off and restoring
operational readiness.

The desired distance is stored.

Setting the current driving speed as the desired
speed
1.
Accelerate to the desired speed using the accel-
erator pedal.
2.
Briefly press the control lever forward (position
1
) and release the accelerator pedal.
PID is
active
. The current driving speed is set as the
desired speed in the status display and is automati-
cally maintained unless a slower vehicle is detected
ahead.
Setting the detected speed limit as the desired
speed

Consider speed limits activated.

Press the control lever upward (
RESUME
) and
release the accelerator pedal.
PID is
active
. The currently detected speed limit
is set as the desired speed in the status display
and is automatically maintained unless a slower
vehicle is detected ahead.
Information
– Speed limits are only considered when PID is
activated.
– On roads with no speed limit, the set maximum
speed is used.
– The driver assistance system can be switched
using the
S
button even when the system is ac-
tive. The newly selected system is in passive
mode after you switch systems.
Changing the desired speed
The set desired speed or the recognized speed limit
can be changed by pressing the control lever.

– Brief press = 1 mph (1 km/h) increments
– Press and hold = 5 mph (10 km/h)
increments
Reducing the speed

Pull the control lever (position

).
– Brief pull = 1 mph (1 km/h) increments
– Pull and hold = 5 mph (10 km/h) increments
Resetting the changed desired speed to the
detected speed limit
e
Briefly press the control lever up (
RESUME
).
The currently detected speed limit is confirmed.
Discarding an automatically accepted speed
limit
e
Long-press the control lever up for longer
(
RESUME
).
The set speed limit is discarded and the previ-
ously set desired speed is retained.
