10. Remove the chaincase

11. Allow the housing to cool completely. Inspect the
bearing seals and bearings.
12. To replace the bearings, use a pick to remove the oil
seals

from the backside of the housing.
13. Remove the snap rings
o
. Note that the sharp edge
of the snap rings faces outward.
14. Drive the bearings
a
out of the housing using an
Arbor press. Discard the bearings and oil seals.
15. Thoroughly clean the chaincase-to-tunnel mating
surfaces. All residual bonding adhesive MUST be
removed. Use a putty knife and wire brush to remove
material.
16. After removing residual adhesive, wash in solution of
warm, soapy water and allow to air dry.
CHAINCASE HOUSING INSTALLATION
Verify all traces of adhesive residue have been removed
from the housing, tunnel, and bulkhead clip. Wash all
mating surfaces with a solution of warm, soapy water.
Allow to air dry. If installing a new chaincase housing,
wash the housing with a solution of warm, soapy water to
remove residual machining oil.
1. If removed, install new bearings

into housing using
an Arbor press. Only press on outer race of bearings.
Do not press on the inner race.
