BRAKE DISC INSPECTION /
REPLACEMENT
1. Remove the side panels.
2. Remove the hood assembly.
3. If the vehicle is equipped with a battery, remove the
battery and battery bracket.
4. Remove the exhaust resonator.
5. Lock the parking brake. Remove the brake disc
fastener

and spring washers

6. Release the parking brake.
7. Remove the brake caliper fasteners

and brake
caliper. Discard the brake caliper fasteners. Secure
the brake caliper to the overstructure tube.
IMPORTANT
Do not hang the brake caliper by the brake hose.
8. Remove the brake disc

from the jackshaft..
9. Measure brake disc and compare to specifications.
MEASUREMENT
Lateral Run-Out Service Limit:
.010 in (0.254 mm)
Service Limit Thickness:
.030 in (0.762 mm) less than nominal
Nominal Thickness:
.197″ ± .005 in (5 ± 127 mm)
10. Prior to disc installation, clean the brake disc with
brake cleaner. Dry with compressed air or lint-free
towel.
11. Install brake disc onto jackshaft. Loosely install brake
disc caliper and spring washers. Verify the two spring
washers are installed dome-side out.
12. Reinstall the brake caliper. Install new caliper
fasteners and torque to specification.
TORQUE
Brake Caliper Mounting Fasteners:
40 ft-lbs (54 N·m)
13. Apply the parking brake. Torque brake disc fastener
to specification.
TORQUE
Brake Disc Fastener:
40 ft-lbs (54 N·m)
