11. With both seal remover body fasteners installed in the
tool, evenly tighten the fasteners until fully seated.
NOTICE
Ensure the parting line of the seal remover body halves
are parallel with each other for proper seal removal.
12. Turn the Seal Remover tool center bolt until the seal
body portion of the mechanical seal is removed. If the
tool begins to remove the seal and fails to remove the
seal body, repeat steps 10-12. Discard the
disassembled seal.
13. Twist a screw into the oil seal

and remove the oil
seal from the crankcase. Discard the seal.
IMPORTANT
Do not pry on the water pump mating surface or bore as
crankcase damage may occur.
14. Remove the snap ring

15. The crankcase will need to be split and the crankshaft
removed in order to remove the water pump drive
shaft. See Crankcase Disassembly page 3.84 and
Crankshaft Removal page 3.85.
16. Once the crankcase has been split and the crankshaft
is removed, carefully pull the water pump drive shaft
a
out of the water pump bore.
17. Inspect the pump shaft bearings

. If replacement is
required the water pump drive shaft must be replaced
as an assembly.
