the patient‘s habits, the foot weight and the length of the lower leg, which have a pendular weight,
also have an influence on his or her gait. Upon delivery, the valve screws are set to the lowest resis-
tance for extension damping. For flexion damping, a medium setting has been chosen.
The flexion and extension resistances can be independently adjusted using the 710H10=2x3 Adjust-
ment Wrench provided.
Adjusting flexion (F) on the left joint side (from the posterior direction of view, Fig. 8).
Rotation of the valve screw of the
hydraulic unit to the right (+)
= greater resistance
= less heel rise
Rotation of the valve screw of the
hydraulic unit to the left (-)
= less resistance
= more heel rise
Adjusting extension (E) on the right joint side (Fig. 9).
Rotation of the valve screw of the
hydraulic unit to the right (+)
= greater resistance
= more extension
damping
Rotation of the valve screw of the
hydraulic unit to the left (-)
= less resistance
= less extension
damping
Attention!
Proceed with caution and in small increments when adjusting the resistances, since
there is the risk of falling!
When making the final extension damping adjustment, make sure that the leg still
completely extends with each step.
When adjusting the swing phase control, the influ-
ence of a cosmetic foam cover must be compensated for.
4.4 Cosmetic foam cover
Use the 3S107 Foam Cover for the
EBS
PRO
Knee Joints. Fabrication of a customized Ottobock
cosmetic foam cover is possible.
Attention!
Do not use talcum powder to eliminate noise in the cosmetic foam cover. Talcum powder
reduces the lubrication of the mechanical parts, which may lead to a malfunction and
thus increase the risk of failure. Using this medical product after application of talcum
powder will render all claims null and void.
Note:
To reduce friction and to eliminate noise, please apply 519L5 Silicone Spray directly on
the contact surfaces of the cosmetic foam cover.
4.5 Maintenance instructions
Attention!
Do not use any aggressive cleaning agents since they could cause damage to bearings,
seals and plastic parts.
Do not disassemble the knee joint!
If you have a problem, please send the knee joint
in for service.
