Your fax machine beeps for 20 
seconds (*). “LIFT HANDSET” 
appears on the display 

After 20 seconds you 
have not lifted the 
handset. 

The caller has called only 
to talk: at the end of the 
conversation you can hang 
up. 

The caller asks you 
to receive. 

Your fax machine pre-
pares to receive. 

Your fax machine 
prepares automati-
cally to receive. It 
will wait to receive a 
document for about 
30 seconds, after 
which it will auto-
matically return to 
the waiting mode. 

(*) You can modify the number and volume of the rings and the duration of the beep emitted by the fax ma-
chine. In some countries, in this reception mode you can access the ring frequency recognition service (see
