CONNECTING TO THE TELEPHONE LINE
As the connection of the fax machine, answe-
ring machine, additional telephones and other
equipment to the telephone line is subject to
regulations that vary from one country to ano-
ther, the following diagrams simply repre-
sent some example connections. If the
connection to the telephone line in your country
does not correspond to those shown in the dia-
grams, make the connection in accordance with
the regulations in force in your country.
Connecting the fax machine
1.
Turn the fax machine on its side, and insert one
end of the telephone cord in the "LINE" socket
on the base of the fax machine; a click indicates
that it has been inserted correctly. Fit the cord
into the channel provided (see the “case 1”,
“case 2” or “case 3” diagram).
2.
Insert the connector or plug (if present) on the
other end of the telephone cord into the tele-
phone line wall socket (see the “case 1”, “case
2” or “case 3” diagram).
Connecting Other Equipment (Answering
Machine, Emergency Telephone, Etc.)
(Case 1 connection)
1.
Turn the fax machine on its right side and re-
move, if present, the pre-cut tab covering the
socket for connection to the telephone line
marked “TEL” on the fax machine, then insert the
plug the telephone cord connector of the addi-
tional device into this socket (see the corre-
sponding diagram). Fix the cord in its channel.
(Case 2 connection)
1.
Insert the connector or plug (according to the
country) of the additional device in the plug-
socket (see corresponding diagram).
(Case 3 connection)
1.
Insert the plug of the additional device in the
telephone line (see corresponding diagram).
If the telephone system to which the fax machine is
connected has more than socket set in series, a
certified telephone must be used. If the system
to which the fax machine is connected has more
than one socket set in series, the fax machine
must be connected to the primary socket.
