7.6. BOARD CONFIGURATION
Pressing the [F6] function key or making the selection using the appropriate cursor keys
and ENTER from the UTILITY MASTER page gives access to the
BOARD
CONFIGURATION
section, which allows setting of the type of internal sound generation
board used by the MC 2000 if the self-identification procedures are not successful.
Whenever it is switched on, the MC 2000 questions the board to find out its make and
model by means of a MIDI message called an "ID REQUEST". However, there are boards
very widely used on the market which do not "reply" to the message. This function allows
the user to set the board in manual mode.
It is important to take special care when setting the board in manual mode, since any
incorrect values may create system malfunctions, such as preventing access to the
internal port, or making incorrect associations in the Program and Control Change tables.
When this video page is accessed, the MC 2000 displays the type of board currently
controlled by the system (if no reply is received to the ID request, the MC 2000 "forces" a
"general purpose" type, based on the MIDI General protocol) together with a request for
confirmation of the change.
[F5] can be pressed to leave the sound board setup unchanged and return to the previous
video page; if [F6] is pressed, the video page will change to:
The Encoder can then be used to scroll through the boards accepted by the MC 2000,
displayed in the field between the and
symbols below the prompt "PLEASE SELECT
BOARD CONFIGURATION". After selecting the type of board desired (NONE means no
board installed), confirm the setting by pressing the [F6] function key (
done
).
The system will request further confirmation and then, if this is given, will make the update
to the new settings (the display will show "... UPDATING...").
