3.3.5
ANTERIOR TILT FUNCTION
RANGE OF TRAVEL:
The Rovi Upfront MPPS allows for up to 45° (range) of anterior tilt adjustment
1
, while maintaining the full range
of Recline (when applicable)- see
section 3.3.2
. The standard (posterior) Tilt function is inhibited (does not func-
tion) when the seating system is in Anterior Tilt.
The legrest hanger on the CM legrest is synchronized (via electronics programming) to adjust automatically
in conjunction with the Anterior Tilt function. The synchronized leg limit control will automatically re-adjust the
angle of the CM Legrest hanger to maintain a perpendicular legrest position throughout the Anterior tilt function
-see Anterior Tilt- Lockouts & Limits below.
When lowering down from the Anterior-Tilt position, the seating system will travel (and self adjust) over the
identical range of motion, but in the opposite sequence
.
1
Note:
the final anterior tilt angle is limited by the pre-tilt angle of the seating system at the home position.
(i.e.; if the pre-tilt angle is set to 5°, then the final anterior tilt angle of the seating system would be 40°).
ANTERIOR TILT - LOCKOUTS & LIMITS:
The anterior tilt function on the Rovi Upfront MPPS has a mechanical limit switch that signals the wheelchair
into
Reduced Drive Speed (RDS)
as soon as the anterior-tilt function moves beyond the home position.
The wheelchair will go into
Drive Lockout (DLO)
when the anterior tilt angle (combined with the pre-tilt angle)
exceeds 15°.
(
Note
: to return to normal drive speed, the anterior tilt must be returned to its home position).
The Tilt function must be in the home position before initiating the anterior-tilt function.
(
Note
: If the seating
system is already (posterior) tilted when the Anterior Tilt function is activated, the seat will automatically return to
the ‘tilt home’ position prior to initiating the Anterior Tilt function).
The standard (posterior) Tilt function will remain locked out (non functional) throughout the Anterior Tilt function.
An electronically programmed synchronized leg limit control automatically rotates/readjusts the legest hanger
angle on the CM Legrest so that it maintains a perpendicular leg position throughout the Anterior-Tilt function.
(
Note:
For seating systems configured with a Power CM Legrest, the power legrest will remain locked out (non-
functional) when the seating system is in Anterior-Tilt.
The Rovi Upfront MPPS uses an
Anti-Tipper Lockout
mechanism to lockout the front (left & right) casters on
the wheelchair base, and stabilize the wheelchair as the seating system transitions into the Anterior Tilt position
(refer to
section 3.3.6
(
Fig 1B
)). The position of anti-tipper lockout mechanism is monitored via two separate
limit switches (one per front caster). If one, or both of the Anti-Tipper Lockouts fail to engage properly during
the Anterior Tilt function, the Anterior Tilt function will go into ‘lockout’, and will not be permitted to continue
*
.
(
*Note
: The anterior tilt function can be returned to the home position if it becomes locked out)
The Anterior Tilt function allows the rear of the seating system to be raised and tilted forward in order to put
the seating system in a more upright position. The Rovi Upfront power positioning system is designed to
allow for up to 45° of anterior tilt adjustment.

WARNING! Risk of compromised wheelchair stability and serious personal injury.
• ALWAYS ensure the wheelchair is on a smooth level surface when driving or operating the system in
an anterior-tilt position (even at reduced speed).
• NEVER lean forward or sideways to grab items/objects, or shift body position (in any direction) while in
the anterior tilt position.
• If transferring from an Anterior Tilt position, be certain to read all Safety Warnings provided in
Section
2.4 Transferrring Guidelines
DANGER! Not wearing your postural belt could result in death or serious injury.
• ALWAYS wear your postural belt when seated in the wheelchair. Your postural belt helps reduce the
possibility of a fall from the wheelchair.
