3.3 Understanding the Power Positioning Functions
3.3.1
POWER TILT FUNCTION
The power tilt function is designed to allow for a center of gravity (CG) shift as the Rovi Upfront MPPS is tilted.
The tilt function compensates for weight shift by sliding the pivot axis and entire seat assembly forward as
the seat tilts back.
RANGE OF TRAVEL:
NOTE:
The full range of Tilt is only available when the Rovi-Upfront MPPS is in the home position.
(see
also
section 4.3.3
)
The Anterior-Tilt module allows for a maximum tilt angle range of 45°.
Note:
The final tilt angle of the seating
system is determined by the pre-tilt angle of the seating system in the home position.
(i.e.; if the pre-tilt angle of
the seat is 5°, then the final tilt angle of the seating system will be 50°).
CAUTION! Risk of System Damage or Property Damage
When tilting your seating system, always consider the size and location of any personal gear being carried
on the back of the wheelchair, as it could become pinched/entangled in the anterior-tilt seat module.
TILT - LOCKOUTS & LIMITS:
The Tilt function is locked out (will not function) when the Rovi-Upfront MPPS is in an Elevated or Reach position.
The Rovi-Upfront MPPS is programmed with a
Drive Lockout (DLO)
limit to prevent the wheelchair from
being driven when the seating system is tilted (or reclined) beyond a safe angle. The DLO Limit is typically
set to engage once the tilt or recline back angle reaches 30° (when Reduced Drive Speed
*
is programmed); or
when the tilt or recline angle reaches 25° (if Reduced Drive Speed is not programmed). See
Fig.1.0
(p.27).
*Note:
The
Reduced Drive Speed (RDS)
limit may be set/programmed to reduce the drive speed of the
wheelchair to approximately 25-30% of its maximum speed, when the back angle extends beyond the established
home position. The Reduced Drive Speed limit is typically set to engage when the tilt (or recline) angle is
between 10° to 25° and will stop once the Drive Lockout limit is reached.
