Advanced Configuration and Troubleshooting
• Select a component with a cross next to it, and click Details to see more
information about the cause of the failure. As you scroll down the list of
commands, any commands that failed will be highlighted with a cross.
This provides information on corrective actions you may need to take.
If the update is not successful, retry Apply Configuration . If this function is
not available, click Allow Reapply , and then retry Apply Configuration .
Repeating Apply Configuration often resolves update problems.
Submitting batch updates
If you find that Update Manager has marked an update for some time as
Created or Pending , or has even marked a successful update later as
incomplete, you can verify directory paths, Update Manager configuration
settings, and share permissions to expedite your update.
Expediting updates that remain marked as ‘Created’
If you’ve submitted an update that remains marked as Created when you
view batch updates, it means that the Update Manager has not read or cannot
see the
<domain> UPGRADE.CFG file on the master repository. As soon as the
Update Manager sees a new update record in <domain> UPGRADE.CFG it
will normally change its state to Pending or Update Sent Successfully .
Follow these steps to resolve a ‘Created’ update:
1. Check that the Update Manager service is running.
2. When viewing batch updates, click the refresh button on the toolbar.
3. Reapply the configuration to the Management Server to ensure that the
Update Manager is looking at the correct files.
The path to these files is set in DEMON.INI:
[Configuration]
ConfigFile =\\SERVER\MEUPGRD\
<domain>
UPGRADE.CFG
OldConfigFile=\\SERVER\MEUPGRD\
<domain>
UPGRADEO.CFG
4. Verify that you have not set the
ScanFreq
key in DEMON.INI to a very
large value because the Update Manager only rereads the files at
intervals defined by this value.
5. Verify that the Update Manager has enough rights to see the master
repository.
