Configuring Complex Domains
198
Management Edition
In order for local staff in each office to respond to virus alerts, you can create
an anti-virus domain for each office, including a mirrored repository. For more
details, see
“Creating mirror repositories” on page 213
.
Adding anti-virus domains
The Management Console can maintain multiple anti-virus domains. You
might want to create multiple domains to reduce the number of machines
within each domain, to split responsibility for different domains among
several people, or because the domains are physically at different locations.
Follow these steps to add another anti-virus domain:
1. In the Management Console’s anti-virus domain view, right-click
Anti-Virus Domain(s),
and choose
New Domain
.
The New Domain dialog box appears (
Figure 7-4
).

2. Enter the name of the new anti-virus domain, and click
OK
.
The tree structure under the new anti-virus domain lists
Management
Server Unassigned
,
Schedule
, and
Members
.
3. To add machines to the new anti-virus domain, right-click the machines
and choose
Discover
, or drag machines from the network view to the
anti-virus domain view. The machine name appears in normal type.
Machines with names in normal type are either not yet configured, or
they are configured but no anti-virus software has been installed. Bold
type means the machine is configured, and anti-virus software is
installed and ready for use. This means you can finalize the configuration
within the Management Console, before you copy any files.
4. Click
Apply Configuration
to configure and install to all machines
that are powered up.
