Using the Alert Manager
•
To add a computer to the list, click
Add
to open the Logging
Properties dialog box (
Figure 6-21
), then enter the name of the
destination computer in the
Computer
box. You can enter the
computer name in Universal Naming Convention (UNC) notation
\\server_name
or click
Browse
to locate the computer on the network.
The Windows NT Event Log service must be enabled on the
computers you select. To view the status of the Event Log service,
open the Windows NT Services from the Control Panel and select
Event Log
. Click
Startup
and select
Automatic
to start the Event
Log service every time the system starts.
To choose additional options, continue with
Step 4
.

To change configuration options, select one of the destination
computers in the list, then click
Properties
. Alert Manager opens
the Logging Properties dialog box (
Figure 6-21
). Change any of the
information in the
Computer
box, then continue with
Step 4
to
choose new or different configuration options.

4. Click
Priority Level
to specify which types of alert messages the
destination computer will receive.
