PCV
– Pressure Controlled Ventilation
Description:
In this mode, the ventilator controls pressure and cycles on time, i.e., at each
inspiratory cycle, the ventilator reaches the set pressure and remains at this
level until the inspiratory time set has elapsed, the volume is, therefore,
result of the physiology of the patient’s lung (compliance and resistance).
Usually when analyzing the flow curve, a flow peak is seen that decreases
over time.
Note

This ventilation mode is not for NEONATAL patients
(reported weight ≤ 6.0 kg).
