A 3.10.2 

Measuring principle

The CO

2

 sensor sends infra-red light of a specific wavelength through the respira

-

tory air. The absorbed portion of transmitted light is determined with a light-sen-

sitive detector and it is used for calculation of the end-tidal CO

2

 concentration.

A 3.10.3 

Power supply

The CO

2

 sensor is powered via the serial interface.

If the main power supply fails, the sensor continues to be powered from the elisa 

300 / elisa 500 unit as long as the elisa 300 / elisa 500 battery maintains the ven-

tilation function.

Breathing circuit

The CO

2

 sensor is compatible with all approved breathing circuits.

Connecting a CO

2 

sensor

Remark

The CO

2

 sensor can be used within the patient environment.

Warning

First connect the CO

2

 sensor to the device (power supply) before 

you allow it to come into contact with the patient.

Warning

Be sure to connect the CO

2

 sensor to one of the BF interfaces on 

the back of the device.
