IX  - STOCKAGE 

Les  moteurs  à conserver  en magasin  pour  plus  de 30  jours  doi­
vent  ètre  préparés  com me  suit: 

Protection  temporaire  (de 

à 

mois): 

- Faire tourner à vide le  moteur au ralenti pendant 15 minutes. 

- Remplir  le  carter  avec  huile  de  protection  MIL-1-644-P9  et

faire  fonctionner  pour  5  à  10  minutes  aux  3/4  de  la  vitesse 
maxi. 

- Le  moteur  étant  chaud,  vider  le  carter  et le  remplir  ensuite 

avec  de  l'huile  neuve  normale. 

- Enlever  le  tuyau  à  combustible  et  vider  le  réservoir  et  le

carburateur.

- Nettoyer  soigneusement  !es  ailettes  cylindre,  culasse  et  vo­

lant. 

- Boucher  avec  du  ruban  adhésif  toutes  !es  ouvertures.

- Enlever la bougie, verser une cuillerée d'huile SAE 30 dans le

cylindre et tourner à la main pour distribuer l'huile.  Revisser 

la  bougie.

- Pulvériser de l'huile SAE 10W dans les soupapes, poussoirs, etc. 

et protéger  avec  de la  graisse  !es  pièces  non  peintes. 

- Envelopper  le  moteur  avec  de  la  toile  plastique. 

- Emmagasiner  dans un locai  sec,  si possible pas  en direct  con-

tact avec  le sol et loin  des lignes électriques  à haute tension.

Protection  permanente  (supérieure 

à  6 

mois): 

En  plus  des  régles  ci-dessus  il  est  conseillé: 

- Traiter  les  pièces  en  mouvement  avec  de  l'huile  anti-rouille

du type MIL-L21260 P10 grade 2, SAE 30 (par ex:  ESSO  RUST­

BAN 339 - Valvoline Tectyl 873) en faisant tourner le moteur,
garni  d'huile  anti-rouille  et  en  vidangeant  l'excédant.

- Récouvrir !es surfaces  extérieures non peintes avec  de l'anti­

rouille  type  MIL-C-16173D  - grade  3  (par  ex:  ESSO  RUST­
BAN  392  - Valvoline  Tectyl  894).

PREPARATION  POUR  LAMISE  EN SERVICE 

- Enlever  !es  protections  et  !es  recouvrements  et  nettoyer

l'extérieur.

- A  l'aide  d'un  solvant ou  dégraissant  approprié  enlever  l'anti­

rouille  de  l'extérieur.

- Démonter  la  bougie,  remplir  avec  de l'huile normale et faire 

tourner  le  vilebrequin  de  quelque  tours.  Vidanger  l'huile 
contenant  l'élément  protecteur  dissous.

- Contr61er !es jets du maxi.  et du ralenti,  le  jeu  des soupapes,

le  serrage  de  la  culasse,  le  fìltre  à  air.

- Procéder aux vérifìcations habituelles avant démarrage comme

indiqué  à  page  33  avant  de  démarrer  le  moteur.

SERIE  IM 

IX  - STORAGE 

Engines  to  be  stored  for  over  30  days  must  be  taken  care of

as  follows: 

Temporary  protection 

(1 

to 

months) 

- Run  engine  at  low  idle  for  at  least  15  mins.

-

Fili crankcase with protection oil MIL-1-644-P9 

and 

run 

engine

at  3/4 maximum  speed  for  5  -é-- 10  minutes. 

- With  hot  engine  drain  oil  and  fìll  with  normai  engine oil. 

- Remove  fuel  line.  Drain  fuel  tank  and  carburettor. 

-

Clean  t�oroughly  cylinder,  head  and  flywheel 

fìns. 

- Seal  off  ali  openings  with  adhesive  tape. 

- Remove spark plug and pour some engine oil in cylinder head

(SAE  30)  and  turn  crankshaft  severa!  times  to  spread  oil 

throughout  charnber.

- Replace  spark  plug.

- Spray  SAE  10W  oil  in  exhaust  and  inlet  ducts  and  protect 

external  leverages  with  grease.

- Wrap  engine  in  a  plastic  sheet.

- Store engine in  a dry  piace,  possibly off the ground and away

from  high  power  lines.

Permanent  protection 

(over  6 

months) 

After  procedure,  as  above,  has  been  followed,  we  recommend 
taking  further  precautions,  namely 

- Treat  rnoving  parts  with  anti-rust  oil  with  MIL-L-21260  P10

grade 2, SAE 30  characteristics (such as ESSO  RUST-BAN 339 
or  Valvoline  Tectyl  873).  Turn  engine  and  drain  excess 

anti-rust  oil.

- Coat  ali  external parts.,  liable  to  oxidize, 

with 

an 

anti-rust 

product  with  MIL-C-16173D  grade  3  characteristics  (such
as  ESSO  RUST-BAN  392  or  Valvoline  Tectyl 894).

RETURN  TO  SERVICE 

- Clean exterior, remove protections  and  covers. 

- Remove  anti-rust  product  coating  from  external  par
