INTRODUCTION

Specifìcations apply to engines updated to the shop  manual pu
blication  date.

Check  for  possible  modifìcations  in  Service  Letters  File.

After checking parts according to instructions outlined in preced
ing  chapter,  assemble  engine  according  to  sequence  specifìed:

this  will  prevent  draw  backs  and  damages  to  parts.

Before  assembly  clean  parts  with  kerosene  and  blow  them  dry

with  compressed air.  Use  clean engine oil to  lay  a  lubricating

film  on  parts  to  avoid  seizure  as  the  engine  fìrst  starts.  At

each  assembly replace  gaskets  and oil seals.

Use  the  torque  wrench  (or  correct  bolt  tightening.

CRANKCASE

- Clean crankcase thoroughly  with kerosene.  Use compressed

air  to  dry  crankcase  up.

- Mount  drive rod vane,  locking the screw  with "  Loctite ".
- Assemble stator and tighten screws to 1.0  Kgm, when  engine

is  equipped  wi.th  alternator.

OIL  SEALING  RINGS

Seals  must  be replaced  if marks  of burns  or cracks  and  sealing

faces are detected.  Always renew seal rings when disassembling
bearings  P.T.O.  side.

CRANKSHAFT

- Heat ball bearing in oven to 120  7130°C and press it in.  For

checks  and  replacements  see  pag.  11.

- Mount  cranksaft  complete  of  ball  bearing  into  crankcase,

placing  on  the  threaded  end  the  seal  ring  protective  device
7090-2524-13  or  a  similar  cap  (Fig.  63).

Fix  ball  bearing  to  crankcase  by  tightening  screw  to  3.5  Kgm
(Fig.  64).

PISTON  AND  CONNECTING  ROD

Assemble piston and  con-rod  inserting piston pin by hand press
ure  without  preheating  piston.  Secure  pin  with  snap  rings.

- Rings rnust be mounted on piston, setting ring gaps staggered

around  half a turn (180

°

)  (Fig. 65). "  L"  shaped ring  must be

mounted  between  the  other  two  with  the  mark  "TOP"
upwards  (Fig.

66).

- Apply oil to cylinder sleeve and piston.  Press rings on piston

with  ring  compressor.
